FN-Keys and Touchpad not working. In Windows -> Settings -> Devices there is no "Touchpad" entry. "Mouse" entry have no touchpad-functions. In Bios there is no "touchpad" setting. I installed Acer Touchpad drivers, that didn't help. Serial IO driver on Acer for the model doesn't have a setup.exe file.

On your laptop keyboard, press the Fn key and the F6 or F7 key (the function key with a touchpad icon on it) at the same time. If it is not working simply press only the f6 or f7 key to enable the touchpad. Step 4. Driver Reintallation. Right-click your computer in the start menu, then click "Properties."

Click the TouchPad tab then click Restore defaults. Method 1: Update the touchpad driver. An outdated or incompatible driver can cause problems. Check to see if an updated driver is available. Method 4: Use the System File Checker tool to repair missing or corrupted system files.

If there is that option, try setting it to "basic" and see what happens (basic still allows for click emulation, vertical and horizontal scolling etc) If it's still not working from the get go, try the FN +F7 once more. The problem with that, is switch 5 doesn't have that option on bios. OK.

Answers. Try resetting the machine to factory fresh using the ALT+F10 cold boot method as shown in the video below. If the touchpad still fails immediately return it to the vendor as defective for an exchange or refund before the vendor's RMA policy period expires. Acer warranty service will take longer. But now, it wont get fixed after how many uninstall and reinstalls, and even restarts. Tried to download the Elan drivers from the support page for my laptop model, but it says
It is used to enable or disable the touchpad. Please try holding the fn key on keyboard and press f6 . If it is not working simply press only the f6 without holding the fn key. If it is still not working press and hold the fn key on keyboard and press f7.
